Report on delivering energy savings in buildings now available

On 25 November 2015, the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), together with the Global Building Performance Network (GBPN) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), published a report entitled “Delivering Energy Savings in Buildings” which focuses on key areas for international collaboration on building energy code implementation.

According to the report, the building sector offers massive potnetial in terms of energy savings. Nonetheless, in order to realise such savings it is essential that codes are implemented effectively.  Furthermore, it notes that international collaboration can support improved code implementation. The report concludes that national and subnational governments are ultimately responsible for adopting and implementing building energy codes. Where appropriate, international collaboration can play a critical role in helping governments to advance their own priorities, through the sharing of policy best practices, improving analytical capabilities, and providing other resources that accelerate and maximise the benefits of building energy codes.
