Financial boost to sustainable urban development

With the aim of boosting investment in start-ups and sustainable urban development, the European Commission has recently launched two new financial instuments. One of the aims of these is to encourage the regeneration of urban areas.

The Gotthard Base Tunnel is the longest tunnel of the world, 57km long. The tunnel shortens travel distance through the Alps and reduces the number of freight trains.

Sharing knowledge to become more energy efficient

With the aim of reducing the fragmentation of data and knowledge in the field of energy efficiency, the European Commission Joint Research Center (JRC) has recently launched the European Energy Efficiency Platform (E3P).  The platform plans to use a collaborative approach to tackle the issue of energy efficiency in six areas.
