EPBD review consultation launched

On 1 July 2015, the European Commission (DG Energy) launched a public consultation on the review of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

The consultation covers a variety of issues including the energy efficient renovation of the existing building stock, energy poverty and affordable housing.  In this regard, it calls for feedback on whether binding renovation targets are needed on order to achieve the goals of the EPBD and whether it would be useful to extend the Eurocodes to include energy performance in buildings.  Both CEMBUREAU and the European Concrete Platform plan to respond to the consultation. In addition, the Commission has made available a Roadmap relating to the review of the EPBD.  This document provides an overview of the problems which the review aims to address, as well as the various stages of the review.
